It's great news; there is now a much bigger emphasis on supporting people and employees with their mental health and wellbeing as well as their physical health. Mental ill health is responsible for 91 million working days lost every year and costs UK employers an estimated £34.9 billion each year - the equivalent of £1,300 for every employee in the UK workforce. Employers across the UK are taking action to support the wellbeing of their people and nurture mentally healthy workplaces. Do you want to join them?
Mental Health Training
Our two day First Aid for Mental Health course has been specifically designed by us to empower people to help others struggling with their mental health. The main aim of the course is to boost practical skills and confidence to have what may be deemed as difficult conversations.
Too often, people feel daunted about these conversations and worry about saying the 'wrong thing'. Compared to other Mental Health First Aid courses out there, our course has a greater emphasis on practical skills from the outset to help someone who is struggling or in a crisis, rather than simply building knowledge. It also aims to reduce stigma, teach people to spot the symptoms of mental health issues and guide a person towards further support.
We can deliver the course in a couple of ways - either the training is delivered in a relaxed manner, with everyone gaining a certificate of attendance from Life Saving Training, or alternatively, we can deliver a Level 3 Mental Health at Work qualification that sits on the regulated qualifications framework (RQF).
With this option, there are assessments that need to be completed by learners to be awarded a qualification certificate. There's a written assessment (up to 60 minutes), consisting of multiple choice questions as well as short written answers. There's also a practical observation of a mental health conversation to be completed.
There's no requirement to complete a regulated qualification, so what you choose may depend on your workplace's requirements or simply personal preference. The quality standards of the actual training delivery don't differ. Not sure what to go for? Simply get in touch and we'll be more than happy to chat through your options!
